Junior Get2Go Challenge – one of the Biggest Years yet!

Our nationwide Junior Get2Go Challenge series, for year 9 and 10 students) has been happening throughout Term 3. With over 200 teams (1600 students) pre-registered for one of the 12 events in the series, its looking like 2017 might be a record year in terms of participants.

Over 18,000 students have now taken part in a junior Get2Go event in the last 11 years, so it is great to see that the challenge is still as popular as ever.

With just four events still to go in the South Island in September, we have already found 8 qualifiers for the Get2Go National Final, to be held at our Great Barrier Island centre in December.

Qualifiers so far –

  • Northland region – Whangarei Girls/Boys High
  • Waitakere/North Harbour region –  Westlake Girls/Boys High
  • Auckland/Counties Manukau region –  Western Springs College
  • Waikato region –  St Pauls/Waikato Dio
  • Bay of Plenty region – Trident High
  • Hawkes Bay region – Taradale High
  • Taranaki/Wanganui region –  New Plymouth Girls/Boys High
  • Wellington/Manawatu region – Kapiti College

Hillary Outdoors Get2GoThe Get2Go is a perfect introduction to multisport and adventure racing, through which many students ‘get hooked’ on the sport and then go out to seek more opportunities to participate. There is a strong follow on from the Junior Get2Go through to our Senior Get2Go and Hillary Challenge events (also the many cool grassroots adventure events around the country). We are also seeing many of our past participants now taking on the premiere events like the Godzone Adventure Race, The Coast to Coast, X-Terra and many international multisport and adventure races with a very high level of success.

Registrations for all of the events will open in early Term 1, 2018 and as some events do fill up quickly, it is always best to get in early to secure your schools place, to avoid missing out.

Just a reminder that all our events are designed to cater for all levels of skill and experience, so all students with a reasonable level of fitness and positive attitude can easily participate. Not only are they a chance for your students to get outside and engage in some different and unique physical activity, they also develop some great teamwork and interpersonal skills – communication, time management, self and team leadership, self-confidence, decision making, problem solving, strategic thinking, working with others, working under pressure…etc. So come along and join in the fun!
