Kayak Leadership Programme

Designed for 14 – 18 year old’s and offered at our Tongariro Centre, the Genesis Energy Kayak Leadership Programme involves a progressive approach to white-water kayak skills and the safety around the sport.

This programme will cover personal paddling skills on flat water and white water, the kayak roll, understanding river features, safe river running, safety management and suitable equipment, culminating in the ability to paddle grade 2 white-water. Participants will spend as much time as possible on the water to maximise ‘hands on’ learning in conjunction with essential theory sessions.

Thanks to the generous funding from Genesis Energy this course is able to be offered for only $170 per person incl GST. This cost includes catering (Sunday dinner until Thursday lunch inclusive), accommodation, instruction, overnight supervision, gear, travel to/from activity location each day.

Students are required to organise their own transport to Hillary Outdoors at the beginning and end of the programme, pick-ups/drop-offs at Turangi Bus Stop can be arranged.

Students arrive Sunday 17th December at 5pm, programme concludes at 1pm, Thursday 21^st December 2023
