Not at all! This course is designed for women stepping into adventure racing or looking to elevate their existing skills. You just need curiosity, commitment, and willingness to be challenged.
You’ll need a reasonable base fitness level. Expect to be active for up to 7 hours a day across walking, biking, and paddling. If you enjoy being outdoors and moving for a full day, you’ll be fine.
You’ll learn practical adventure racing skills, including navigation, map reading, bike handling, paddling, gear management, nutrition planning, teamwork, and race-day mindset.
Yes! Many participants are new to adventure racing. The course is designed to take the stress out of getting started and build confidence step by step.
Yes! This is a wāhine-only course, creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment.
A full gear list will be provided before the course. You’ll need personal outdoor clothing, food, and basic gear suitable for active days outdoors.
No. This course is self-catered. Participants are responsible for bringing their own food. At your accommodation, there is a full kitchen. More information will be provided before your course.
The course runs in most weather conditions. Learning to adapt to the elements is part of adventure racing training.
The course is held at our Hillary Outdoors Tongariro Centre.
