Wāhine Toa Adventure Race Training

Learn adventure racing skills in a supportive environment with like-minded women

Wāhine Toa Adventure Race Training is designed for beginner and intermediate women who want to build confidence, improve their skills, and feel more prepared for their next adventure race. 

Whether you’re completely new to adventure racing or already have a few events under your belt, this weekend course will help you develop practical skills, race strategies, and confidence alongside supportive, like-minded wāhine. 

No matter your experience level, this course is about learning, challenging yourself, and having fun outdoors. 

Over the weekend, you’ll train: 

  • On foot – navigating through bush and tussock terrain 
  • On bike – building bike skills and navigating on the move 
  • On water – learn paddling skills and transition strategies 
  • Plus, a mystery challenge to prepare you for the types of mystery challenges you may get thrown during a race 

We’ll cover: 

  • Navigation, strategy, map reading and route finding 
  • Gear, packing, and quick fixes 
  • Nutrition and hydration  
  • Teamwork and communication 
  • Race-day mindset and mental prep 
  • Body care, blister prevention, and staying warm when wet 

Please note:  

  • This course is self-catered 
  • A reasonable base level of fitness is required, as you’ll be active and on your feet for up to 7 hours each day. 
  • Participants must be 18+
